Riiflex Wiimote Dumbbells

Have you seen the Riiflex Wiimote Dumbbells yet?

This is hilarous and great at the same time. Now I can get a workout while boxing and Dakota can get a workout when she attacks the Wiimote (visualize it ... now laugh).

Blade mSR RC Helicopter

At around 1 ounce, the Blade mSR is quite an impressive little toy. It took 5 or 6 flights to get the hang of flying it, but it was not that hard.  The trick is to stay behind the helicopter. That way the controls seem natural. Flying towards yourself, on the other hand,  can be tough since the controls all seem backwards.  When your first getting started be sure to put your remote in beginning mode by press in on the right paddle (the red LED will blink while in beginner mode).

By the end of the first day I was able to take-off, pirouette, fly through a hallway, and land on our coffee table pretty reliably. That said, there is still plenty of crashing into walls, furniture, people, and the dog (sorry Dakota).

The mSR is very resilient. So far I've only popped a few things loose. Nothing has broke yet and I've crashed full speed ahead into the wall and free-falled from 15 feet.  Dakota (the dog) has even attacked it a couple times while in flight.

If you're considering buying a micro heli I highly recommend the mSR.  It's a lot of fun to fly around the house and it was not too hard to learn. Many websites recommend getting the mCX as a first heli, but I personally think it's unnecessary to start with the mCX. I was able to learn on the mSR without any previous helicopter experience. The mCX might be nice, however, if you don't have a large room to fly in.

Buy it, fly it, and have fun!

Home Brew

About a year ago a friend and I started home brewing. Since then we have brewed about 15-20 batch of various styles including Brown Ale, Strong Red Ale, Hefeweizen, Belgian Wit, Belgian Tripel, and IPA. It has been quite fun - buying gadgets, building contraptions, and making some pretty awesome tasting beer.

Rocket, the Three Legged Dog

It was a misty wet day at VRC, but that didn't stop Rocket. He is a three legged pit bull that was featured on Pits and Parolees recently. One of the parolees is working on getting Rocket certified to be a therapy dog. Rocket is full of energy and can beat many of his four legged friends up the dirt road at VRC.

It's a silly picture of Rocket with his tongue out, but here is Christy walking Rocket.

Walking Tank

Here I am walking Tank from the Villalobos Rescue Center. He is one of the cutest dogs at VRC. You might recognize him from a recent epispode of Pits and Parolees on Animal Planet.

Volunteering as a dog walker at VRC is a great way to get some exercise and at the same time give these wonderful dogs some time to run around and be a dog.
